My Insta-Life: Bidding Summer Adieu

It's true, the summer is unofficially coming to a close this weekend.  Part of me is sad because I can't help but love the magical energy of New York in the summer, but then the rest of me can't wait to wear leather, watch football, and see the trees turn.  August was a pretty incredible month, so take a look.

Cabin time in the Catskills commenced early this month.   It was filled with so much laughter, so much amazing food, and perfect views like this one...

A few days after cabin weekend, I headed to Detroit to meet up with some friends for the Jay Z, Justin Timberlake Legends of the Summer show.  This DC view was a perk from the flight.

My outfit for the show... See more here.
 It. Was. Incredible.

Every once in a while I get sick of the topknot, and try something new, this was a super fun look.

I took my first trip over the Brooklyn Bridge last week, and all I can say is, Brooklyn, I love you.

My Insta-Life: The 4th & Beyond

July was a perfect month filled with a visit home to see my amazing family and some friends, and a visit from two of my favorite people.  This is just a peek at what happened on Instagram last month, but if you want to stay updated on the daily, follow me here.

New shoes, and a wine + berry filled girls night kicked the month off right.

My trip home was punctuated with many trips to the beach, and a neighborhood fireworks spectacular.  And if you don't believe that beaches are a thing in Michigan, I invite you to watch this tear-jerking, goosebump-inducing, Pure Michigan commercial.

Boat rides were enjoyed with the best people.

Saying goodbye to the sandy shores, and crystal clear Lake Michigan water was tough, but then I got to come back and work an event for Banana Republic featuring their gorgeous Holiday 2013 offering.

Towards the end of the awful New York heatwave, I hit the beach with some friends.  It was perfect.
Later in the week, friends and I convened at Brooklyn Bridge park for a night of laughter, and amazing conversation, with some pretty perfect views.  A sunset, and Ample Hills ice cream are really all one needs for a blissful evening.

FRIENDSSSSS!! The Jenny's came to town, and it was wonderful.  At work we had to say goodbye to one of the "dolls," and we fittingly brought Barbie's footwear out on the town with us.

The month ended with a quiet night at home enjoying fresh flowers, and a new candle.

Can't wait for what this final month of summer brings, p.s. how is it already August??

My Instagram Life: Summer!

June kicked this summer off in perfect style, and I'm sharing what my iPhone lens saw throughout the month.  Starting off the month right, I spent a morning at CFDA HQ celebrating their partnership with Swarovski, and re-watching the CFDA Awards webcast.  Later in the week I indulged in Krispy Kreme donuts with some friends in celebration of National Donut Day.

Once upon a time... I wore a denim jacket over my denim vest.  Something tells me that won't be the last time.  Then it was off to Texas for an amazing weekend with Brinton & Allie.

The cutest bride-to-be, and our amazing view of downtown Austin from the rehearsal dinner cruise.

The State Capitol is a beaut {I know you've seen her before, but I couldn't help myself}.  The wedding flowers were so perfect.  So. Perfect.

Saying goodbye to the Lone Star State was tough, but it won't be the last time.  Plus, leaving Texas meant that I got to come back and enjoy a perfect moment in Prospect Park at Tropfest, and accompanied the supermoon.

My new Rachel Comey shoes are a cosmic wonder, I cannot wait to wear them all over the boroughs this summer.

I'm going back to Michigan to frolic on the beach, cuddle cute puppies, and hang with my friends & family this week, and I can't wait to see what else this summer holds!

Birds of Paradise

I'm busy working in all of my favorite, and yet to come in to existence summer looks before these long, hot days come to an official end.  This is one of my absolute favorite Summer 2012 purchases.  Within 18 hours of explaining to my mom that the white dress with massive red, yellow and blue poppies she had picked up for me on a whim was just not my style, and in fact a bit "too much" in terms of the print, I stopped in at Anthropologie and picked up this lil' garment.  I now completely understand how my style could be confusing to those that exist outside of my brain...

My favorite details on the dress have to be the mixed patterns and accent prints, adding just that perfect extra dose of quirk.

Then, there's this guy.  He has a twin, and they hang out at Fort Greene Park on the weekends.  How are you enjoying the last few days, nights, and weekends of summer?

Seventies Summer

I am by no means the biggest fan of summer, but I was definitely excited this weekend when I broke out a few of my summery dresses to put into rotation.  One great dress that I got last summer, and another dress that I've had for years and can't stop wearing, both give off such great seventies vibes.  I still have a ways to go in terms of a fully functioning summer wardrobe, but at least I have a place to start.
I bought this maxi dress last summer at the store I worked at in Charleston, it was on major sale and nobody else seemed to want it.  I on the other hand loved it the first time I saw it.  It's comfortable, breezy and the pattern is so retro, it looks perfect paired with my Bettye Muller espadrille clogs, and my Madewell vest!
This black dress is from H&M, I got it my freshman year of college...6 years ago and have had times where I've thought about getting rid of it, but I never can.  I wore it to a wedding two years ago, and it was perfect!  The skirt swings so well, and it is the awesome midi length that I cannot get enough of these days.

I pretty much always need dresses, but I can tell that I will need a full arsenal this summer, it was 90 degrees yesterday.....
