Sartorial Compass: Nicole Richie, Fairytale

Weddings are a lifetime in the making for many girls, whether you want your day to be small and simple, or grand and glamorous.  Nicole Richie went for grand and glamorous, and did it with insane style.  

 Nicole's gown was inspired by Grace Kelly's, with a similar satin waistband and lace top, but Nicole's tulle skirt was all her own.  

 It had always been her dream to have an elephant at her wedding...

The skirt came off for the reception to reveal a slim fitting full lace gown.  

My absolute favorite part of her custom made gown?  Their names embroidered into her sleeve.

In only 6 days, I'll be celebrating my brother's wedding and welcoming a sister into my family! I cannot wait to be a part of their perfect day.

Being out and about at so many different events means that there are thousands of photos of Nicole Richie floating around, so I had to be selective.  She's definitely a style chameleon on the red carpet, one minute she's rocking leather, the next minute it's lace.  Today our compass is pointing us in the direction of evening wear, have a look to see her favorite ways to dress up!

Nobody does casual quite like Nicole Richie.  Heavy knits, skinnys,  a bit of leather, a beanie if she feels like it, and ALWAYS black.  She always executes a chic and pulled together look so perfectly, whether she's toting around her tots or not.

A designer darling, and a woman who's style stuns at any given moment is destined to be photographed often.  Julianne Moore transforms from beautiful redhead mom to drop-dead gorgeous model any time that she is placed in front of a camera.

 Julianne was a part of Talbots' transformation and re-branding strategy in 2011, she killed it.

Sartorial Compass: Julianne Moore, Designer Darling

With fiery red hair and a role in a Tom Ford directed film, it's no surprise that Julianne Moore is tapped by some of the worlds most renowned designers to sport their gear all over town {or the world}.   Lanvin is a favorite of hers, and for that alone I adore her.  Tom Ford even asked her to model in his extremely intimate design re-debut back in 2010.

She is the definition of striking.

Sartorial Compass: Julianne Moore, Black, White & Green All Over

In today's installment of Sartorial Compass, Julianne Moore shows us what a few classic silhouettes and a couple of pops of green can do.  And green can do a lot when you're hair is the most perfect shade of red.  Her hair is literally PERFECT.

Absolutely in love with the McQueen look in the center.  So good.

Wearing Tom Ford on the left, she STUNS in green.  

She knows how to rock a suit, and looks divine in dresses of all kinds.  She is 52.  She is truly a woman who has embraced all of her freckles, and the hair that she was born blessed with.  

Sartorial Compass: Julianne Moore, Rouge

Yesterday I got lazy and spent the {rainy} day at the park and therefore have slotted in June's Sartorial Compass a day late.  Julianne Moore has been around for a while, but in recent years she has absolutely killed it.  A die hard Lanvin, YSL and Reed Krakoff fan, she looks amazing in just about anything, and is single-handedly to blame for my obsession with, and attempt at scarlet locks.  Reds and pinks on a redhead can be hard, but she pulls it off masterfully, take a look... 

I don't think I'll ever stop trying to get that color to happen in my hair.  I want to be her when I'm 50.  

Sartorial Compass: Michelle Williams, All Dressed

I'm sad to say that today is Michelle Williams' last day as Sartorial Compass, but this obviously won't be the last time you see her up here.  She's not showing any signs of slowing her style game down just yet.  The rest of the photos I have of her are from various events, and there are just too many cute dresses.  She loves white dresses, and looks amazing in them all, among others of course.  

If she hasn't at least inspired you to wear more cute dresses and be generally adorable, she has surely made you consider a pixie cut.  Can't wait to see her shine as a style star in the years to come!

Sartorial Compass: Michelle Williams, Gown Gorgeous

Michelle Williams has been gracing red carpets for a while now, but it wasn't until Brokeback Mountain that she really stepped up her red carpet game.  Below are a few of her best gown moments from years past.  Who could ever forget the mustard Vera Wang gown that made her the fashion icon that she is today.

The dress in the center is Miu Miu from last years Met Gala, it fit her personality perfectly and physically fit her like a dream as well.

Sartorial Compass: Michelle Willams, Shifty

The 60's inspired pixie cut that Michelle Williams has been rocking on and off for a while now, pairs perfectly with her love of the perfect shift dress.  Always easy going and simple, she looks effortlessly cool in each one.  

 In Victoria Beckham, Chloe and Erdem {I think}.  She wore the Chloe dress to the Independent Spirit Awards for Brokeback Mountain, I will never forget this dress, it is one of my favorite pieces of all time.

I'm a bit too attached to my hair to ever go full out with a pixie cut, but she sure does make me question that, if only for just a minute.

P.S. Happy Mother's Day to the most wonderful, selfless woman I know!  Also to the most wonderful Grandma that a girl could ask for!
