Little Black Jacket

One of the fantastic parts of being in New York is that some really phenomenal things, people and in this case a stunning photography exhibit come through town.  Karl Lagerfeld {designer, curator, photographer - among other things} assembled this collection of photos with former French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld.  Together, with the help of 109 models, socialites, celebrities and friends of the brand they brought to life a true classic with The Little Black Jacket.

 Anna Wintour
 Carine Roitfeld
Kanye West, Dakota Fanning, Daphne Groeneveld etc.
 Natalia Vodianova etc.
 Charlotte Gainsbourg
The sisters.

Kirsten Dunst, Vanessa Paradis, Elizabeth Olsen & Elle Fanning

I'll be honest, sometimes I feel like Karl stretches himself too thin and what he puts his name on isn't always indicative of his talent or his brand [hello Karl Lagerfeld for Macy's...}, this collection of photographs is not one of those projects.  It represents the absolute core of what Chanel as a brand is all about, and expresses Coco's vision that Karl continues to re-imagine every season.  If you're in New York, you only have three nights left to go check out this {totally free!} exhibit.

Oscar Party Circuit

I admit...I'm quite late with this one, but I just couldn't ignore all of the bonus dresses from Oscar night.  Nominees, and supporters alike turned it out making me wish that everyone was forced to wear two {or more} dresses throughout the evening.  And by everyone, I mean only a few of the best dressed ladies of course.

Starting out with a bang, Sartorial Sompass alumni, Diane Kruger in Calvin Klein.
Shailene Woodley in Proenza Schouler
 Mia Wasikowska in Antonio Berardi
 Elizabeth Olsen wearing Chanel
Emma Stone with a quick-change into this GORGEOUS Chanel dress.
Sartorial Compass alumni, Zoe Saldana, in a dress by Marios Schwab.
Recent Sartorial Compass alumni, Kate Bosworth wore a dress by Prabal Gurung
Ginnifer Goodwin, Sartorial Compass alumni, also looked amazing at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party in a dress by Peter Som.

Did anybody notice anything about those last six?  Apparently I like black, lots of black, sheer and mixed textures, short, long and maybe even with a bit of sparkle thrown in.  Is there anything that you're seeing now that you wish would have been on the Oscar red carpet instead?
