Sartorial Compass: Kirsten Dunst Rodarte Rad

Kirsten Dunst has been around the acting world for a while (as evidenced by last weeks photo), but she's also been a huge part of the fashion world for a while as well.  During her time in the public eye she has forged a friendship with Laura and Kate Mulleavy of Rodarte...one of the cooler and more innovative lines to come out of the U.S. in the last ten years.  Captured below are her best Rodarte looks to date, and surely there's more to come...

Kirsten in a classic Rodarte knit...wish those would make a comeback...

The dress pictured above is from one of their more recent collections, the mixed patterns and unique throwback shape are really special.  This dress is from the same collection and bears a resemblance to a dress that Chloe Sevigny once wore.   The photo below is from the Cannes film festival this year where she came back to the forefront of the fashion world with a vengeance...more photos from Cannes to come in the following weeks...

She wore this white dress to the Costume Institute Gala at the met in 2010 I think.  It's from probably my absolute favorite Rodarte collection to date, inspired by the women of Juarez Mexico.  I wish there was a detail shot of the shoes, Nicholas Kirkwood crafted them for this particular season and the heel is made to look like dripping wax.  The details are impeccable.

Love her in this black dress, the length is great (this is from 4 years ago...she was wayyyy on top of the midi-length trend), her hair and makeup are flawless.  Check out some past Rodarte pieces and feel inspired by Kirsten to go for something with unique craftsmanship and details this week.

Oh and Rodarte for a more casual look too...
