Sartorial compass: Chloe Sevigny

This weeks Sartorial Compass is one of my favorite style icons, Chloe Sevigny.  She falls somewhere between Rihanna and Diane Kruger on the style compass, pointing you to the spot in between totally pulled together and super edgy.  And as a low maintenance makeup girl myself I applaud her for never trying too hard with her hair and makeup, she always lets the clothes do the talking.

She's never afraid to add a kick to her outfits, from a super short hemline to polka dots at the Emmy's, so have a look at some of her best ensembles below.  

Her standout red carpet looks are from the Emmy's, the Costume Institute Gala and the Golden Globes where she won for her role in "Big Love."  The turquoise Proenza Schouler in the center was such a standout to me, I love the cut and color so much and it's a very unusual dress for that particular event, I commend her for the risk!

This last photo is one of my favorites of her, so go forth and remember these three tips: wear print whenever and wherever you want, always add shoes that standout, and a red lip looks good on EVERBODY.
