The other day, after swooning over the coolness level of GANT's creative direcor, Christopher Bastin, a coworker brought to my attention the fact that his coolness has no limits. His home decor skills {along with his artist wife's}are also pretty stellar, please enjoy the perfect-ness of his haphazard, yet wonderful Swedish home.

Shabby {french} Chic
Classic shabby chic can only be made better with a dash of French charm. White walls, natural wood, and a few modern pieces of furniture for good measure, are hallmarks of the French parenting magazine {odd I know} that I was turned on to by the lovely ladies at Desire to Inspire.

Eame-ing High
Growing up in the region of Michigan well known for their innovative furniture design, one would think I would have known the magic of the Eames designs much earlier on, especially since my dad has worked closely with Herman Miller for years. But alas, only within the last year have my eyes been opened to the magic of the mid-century modern chairs that to this day can transform a room into the space of ones dreams.
Whether in a neutral, or a bright and cheerful hue, they always bring a room's cool factor up to 100%.
These. Colors.
A table for twelve in various shades simply makes my heart melt, lest we forget that mirror that is so perfect, it almost brings tears to my eyes.
I've never seen this one for sale, but can you imagine??

Morocco Makes 'Em Better
My obsession with Moroccan rugs grows by the day, specifically the white Berber rugs. They are all over the place right now, and I can't get enough of how they warm up living spaces, and always make rooms feel more lived in. Unfortunately they're a huge investment as well. For now I suppose I'll just dream a little dream while looking at these gorgeous rooms, and keep my eyes peeled for sales.
Have a lovely Sunday!

Got My Eyes On You
I'm trying to spice up the decor in my bedroom right now, but often that takes time and usually a bit of money... Right now there are a select few things that I can't get out of my head!
I need a fan in my room for practical purposes, but I figure that I can find one that is both practical and aesthetically pleasing. These are a few that I found on Etsy. Thoughts?
I love these gold framed chalkboards, I'd prefer the one above sans biology lesson. Morgan & Katie...remind you of a certain summer lab? I would love to use this simply as a way of posting reminders in my room, but also think it would be fun for listing restaurants to try etc...
I would LOVE to find one of these chairs to replace the desk chair of mine that split in half when I first moved in {that's right, my desk has been chair-less for 3 months}. Any suggestions on where to find one for under $100?

Decorating Around My Duvet
Spring Break 2007 my mom and I ventured to Philadelphia for a few days and while visiting we stopped at an Ikea, at which I purchased my lovely and vibrant duvet cover. Said duvet cover has now seen me through 3 Chicago apartments, a 4 month long move to Charleston, SC, and its next big adventure will be to the Big Apple. This time I vow to fully settle in and make the place my home. In order to do this I plan on purchasing a couple of rugs, something I've always wanted to add to my rooms (3/4 of them have had wood floors) but I can never commit to because they're so expensive. Today I came across a few at Urban Outfitters that I'm considering.
Pictured above is my duvet cover, stripes of purple, orange and a touch of citrus populate the fabric. What do you think about these, and the possibility of layering the rugs to multiply floor coverage?
The chevron rug is the largest (also probably the busiest), I wish Urban had it available in a dark purple...but would it be completely crazy to do the orange chevron and then these two smaller rugs (that are both under $40)? I'm just not sure what else to do.
Also throwing this last one is as a wildcard entry, because it's pretty awesome. Does anybody have suggestions, or ideas of where to find inexpensive rugs?
P.S. this is my 100th blog post on SartorialRoadmap.blogspot.com. Thanks for continuing to read,, I can't wait to see what the new year holds!
